Floodshield Barrier Fit & Installation
How easy is it to fit a Floodshield?
Very easy. Floodshield’s were designed to be fitted quickly and without tools, even in an emergency. Simply wind the clips to the right length, press the barrier into place, and it's ready. Full installation instructions are available online so head over to How it works page to find out more.
Do I need any tools or permanent attachments?
No tools, no screws, no ugly fixings. Floodshield clips securely to your door frame with its unique compression system. You can store it away and deploy it in under a minute. Great for rented homes or listed buildings too. Check out our How it works page to find out more.
What size door will a Floodshield protect?
Floodshield fits most UK single residential doors, from 760mm to 960mm wide. If your door is slightly outside this range, we may still be able to help; just send us your measurements and we’ll advise. For larger openings like patio or garage doors, we recommend FloodSax.
My doorframe is very deep, will your clips reach the frame?
Each Floodshield comes with standard 50mm bolts. If your frame is unusually deep, we can supply longer bolts on request, just let us know at checkout or contact us.
My doorframe is narrower than the 35mm needed, what can I do?
Affixing a wooden batten each side of the door frame will increase the width of the outside surface to a above the required 1 ½ inches (35mm). This will allow the barrier to seal and clip to the frame correctly. Once the wooden batten is painted it becomes part of your door frame. Go to our wooden door frames help section for a diagram example. Visit our How to Install page for full details on installation.
Standard vs Closed Floodshield: how do I know?
Use a Closed Floodshield only if your door has a continuous solid threshold along the bottom. If the base of the doorframe is not sealed, go for the Standard model. For more details please visit our How to Install page.
Will it fit around the plastic trim on my UPVC door?
UPVC door frames are approx. 75mm wide, which allows the barrier to overlap at least 35mm each side of the door frame. This width means that there should be ample space to fit the barrier whilst avoiding the plastic trim. Go to our UPVC door frames help section for a diagram example of this. Visit our How to Install page for full details on installation.
Do Floodshields work with outward opening doors?
No, the barrier is only compatible with inward-opening doors. For outward-opening doors, we recommend FloodSax.
Can I stack multiple Floodshield on top of each other to get a higher barrier?
Unfortunately not. The barriers are not built to seal water tight this way - once water levels reach this height there are likely to be many more entrance points for the water, for example windows, ventilation. Check out our Full Home Protection range for options.
How much does a Floodshield weigh?
A Floodshield weighs only 5kg and so can be carried and fitted by most people from 8 to 80+!
How tall is the Floodshield?
Floodshield is 58cm high, or roughly 2 feet.

The dramatic increase in torrential rain has caused problems with flooding inside our garage, with huge volumes of water flooding off land onto our drive, which lies below levels of surroundings. Two Flood Shields installed outside have stopped problem by slowing flow of water to a trickle. The soak away drains are no longer overwhelmed.

Following a recent deluge of rain down our sloping driveway our garage was flooded. A Osmo flood barrier placed diagonally across our driveway successfully diverted any further water into a nearby drain.

Keeping my mind at rest with your excellent floodsacks thank you

I always leave 4 pads in the corner that is susceptible to water ingress in heavy rainstorms in my basement.
It stop the water from tracking across the concrete floor - total piece of mind !!

This robust shield is of fibre glass material utilising a corrugated shield for strength and rigidity. Surrounding the corrugated shield is a moulded flat frame providing a mating surface against the door frame. A high quality rubber? seal is fixed to this surface to give a waterproof seal.
The metal fixings allow a row of steel hooks to clamp the floodshield firmly against the door frame, thus providing a barrier but allowing the door to open for access.
Pros:
High quality well engineered product.
Easy and quick to fit.
Great after service and communication.
Con:
The metal 'hooks' have sharp edges. Might benefit from a light linishing or maybe plastic caps. To protect fingers and door seals.

Purchased these to replace some others supplied by our council following a flood that had been used when heavy rain was forecast. We have used a couple and they swell up well. Fortunately they have not been used in earnest, but they seem to be good. I like to have them in their box and easily accessible if required.

It works well.

Not used but sleep better at night

Bought these for my daughter’s house, who suffered a freak flood. Hoping this will not happen again but these shields give us peace of mind. One of the shields do not fit correctly, but Mikee was extremely helpful in finding a solution and replaced the item in a prompt manner. Would highly recommend this product and company.

I have dry fitted the flood shield and it fits and looks to be water tight. Although fortunately not tested in anger it does look and fit extremely well. Thank you for your help and advice.
Best regards.
Peter Tydeman.

We “summerized” our Florida condo with the toilet stoppers and left the air pump with the person looking after our place after we headed back north so he could add some more air if required if a storm surge is predicted. Fingers crossed no flood this year.

Easy and light to install! Not tested with flooding but happy it's a good defence if ever needed!

The advertising was persuasive so we ordered it. It came in good order and proved to be the right fit and easy to instal. The proof as to its efficiency now depends on the next flooding event (which we expect but rather fear). If that happens you can expect another review!

After receiving the flood shield and realising we needed the shorter clips, you promptly sent them with no issues.
Today we have swapped the clips and fitted it to the door. It was lightweight, and very easy to install.
Really hoping we won’t need to use it, but it is very reassuring to know that if the worse does happen, my mum is able to install the Floodshield.
Your customer service has been brilliant and your product is giving my mum peace of mind should the worst happen.

Hi I found the barrier easy to fit lightweight bit disappointing the writing upside down on , fortunately I’ve not had to use it yet so still waiting to test it
