Introducing the Flood Cube: an eco-friendly, budget-conscious solution for safeguarding both residential and commercial properties against surface water flooding. Engineered to form effective barriers and redirect water flow, the Flood Cube boasts integral handles for effortless handling and deployment. With a 5-year shelf life, vacuum-packed storage, and lightweight design, Flood Cubes offer convenience and peace of mind for flood preparedness.
How does the Flood Cube work?
The Flood Cube operates as an eco-conscious and cost-effective solution for safeguarding properties against surface water flooding. It serves a dual purpose of forming barriers and redirecting water flow, featuring integral handles for effortless handling and deployment.
Activated by submersion in fresh water or soaking with a hosepipe (avoiding salt water), the Flood Cube partially activates within 3 minutes and fully activates within 5 minutes. Once activated, the cubes are positioned strategically to form barriers or stacked for wall-like constructions up to 1.2m high.
Composed of ultrasonic, non-woven polypropylene outer bags and hydrophilic nano-SAP internal fills, Flood Cubes are vacuum-packed for easy storage and lightweight transportation. Each fully activated cube weighs approximately 20kg, providing a stable barrier against flooding.
After use, the non-toxic internal material disperses into the ground, while the outer sack is disposed of in accordance with local authority guidelines. With a 5-year shelf life, Flood Cubes offer long-term flood prevention solutions for homes, shops, offices, and building sites, ensuring readiness and efficiency during emergencies.
One pack of 4 Flood Cubes can be laid out to protect:
- 1 row of 4: a span of 160cm to a height of 15cm
- 2 rows of 2: a span of 80cm to a height of 30cm
- 4 rows of 1: a span of 40cm to a height of 60cm
So for a standard patio door of 200cm wide, 5 packs of Flood Cubes will protect to a height of 60cm.

I'm unable to review the Flood Cubes yet as the water receded just before we needed to put them to the test. However, Floodshield who supplied them were great. They were out of stock of the item we ordered but immediately contacted us and offered to supply the Flood Cubes instead and hold the price at that of the lower priced item we had ordered. They arrived the next day.
Prompt service. Kept well informed
The cubes inflate quickly in water and are substantial when ready for use. I used them in conjunction with flood barrier tubes but when the water is as high as the cube, it floats and provided no barrier. I suspect they might work better as a wall with numerous cubes built on top of one another. I think their use and limitation need to be better explained on the website.
